They’re Here!

Get Ready to Change the World!

7 Churches from five states arrived today with 180 students and adult leaders ready to Change the World! Students unloaded trailers and rolled out air mattresses. Students will spend their days restoring hope to communities by repairing lower income housing. In the evening students will explore what it means to be Set Apart. The World Changers Cincinnati Staff is excited to meet all the students offering their hard earned money, a week of summer break and their love for those who are in need. Students will be on 15 work sites scraping paint, building wheel chair ramps, and building relationships.

Opening Celebration

Opening Celebration was a blast! Many games were played. Including several rounds of Gorilla, Man, Gun! Students participated in an eBay version of The Price is Right. Did you know an unsharpened pencil would sell for 124 bucks? Weird. Singing, Cheering, and competing, the students exuberance could be felt.

We’re ready to get these projects on the road! Tomorrow participants will wake at 6AM to eat breakfast and head out to their worksites. All are excited to begin the work and impact the Cincinnati Community!

Hasta Luego… well, almost……

There’s been sweat, there’s been tears, and even some blood shed this week as 298 participants representing 12 churches and 7 states exerted mass amounts of energy among the community of Augusta. These students sacrificed a week out of their summer when they could’ve been at the beach, they could’ve stayed home, or hung out with their friends playing video games or going to the movies like the majority of our generation does. Instead these teens decided to be set apart from the usual stereotype of our generation.

Some learned to roof a house, to paint a porch, to scrape windows, and all of them learned how to make a house a home. In response to that we would like to thank you for all the hard work you’ve given to making a difference to the people in Augusta. Each of you were at the very least a silent example of Christ and some of you were outspoken enough to bring the gospel to your homeowner and even their neighbors. So from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! We had a BLAST getting to know each of you, and you’ve touched our hearts considerably and this trip will not be soon forgotten.

HERE WE GO

Tuesday night the missions offering was collected and to be honest I was floored by how sacrificially these students gave! The total given was $3,031.11!! WOW!!! There are 298 participants which averages to almost $10/participant which is AMAZING!! :)
We also had an auction in which we auctioned off Carter and Audrie to work half a day with the highest bidding crew also Matt and I (Halley) auctioned off dinner with ourselves at Zaxby’s to the highest bidder. Audrie was auctioned off to the Needle Noses crew, Carter was auctioned off to the Joint Clamps. Matt and I had dinner with Caroline Davidson, Dee Davidson, and Lexi. We all had an awesome time! The final total for the missions offering was around $2,500!!!!

Lastly, E Couragrams will not be delivered to the students after tonight! THANK YOU! :)

Oh How He Loves Us

So… One word describes today (and very inaccurately at that) WOW!!! GOD IS AT WORK IN AUGUSTA!!!
The students arose early again to get off to their work sites. AND IT WAS HOT TODAY!! After a long hot day in the sun the students came back “home” to Crawford Avenue to shower, clean up, and get ready for dinner and worship.
Tonight was the concert of prayer, which is personally my favorite night for worship at world changers. We worshiped through scripture, prayer, and song. A few students shared their cardboard testimonies.. which was AMAZING!! The Holy Spirit was stirring the hearts of our youth and moving them to kneel before the altar, raise their hands in praise, shout to God, and looking up to the Heaven’s towards God. The students were dismissed at the end of the concert of prayer but noone moved. The majority of the students stayed in the worship center completely surrendering themselves in worship. I have never seen such raw, uncut, free and moving worship. When we get out of the way of ourselves God really begins to move in our hearts. 3 students were claimed for Christ’s kingdom, 2 surrendered to missions, 1 student surrendered to ministry and 2 students rededicated their lives to Christ… I’d say it was a pretty amazing night full of celebration, tears, laughted, joy, dancing, singing, shouting, and FREEDOM!!!! It was truly THE MOST BEAUTIFUL sight I have EVER seen. It was unforgettable to my heart to see mostly high school and middle school students feel so free in their relationship with Christ to express themselves so freely!!

The Great Send Off…

Students awoke  this morning at a very primitive hour with excitement and adrenaline in their bodies, ready to serve the Lord. After gathering in a HUGE circle, holding hands, and praying the students rushed through a gauntlet of their adult leaders they loaded in their church vans and headed towards downtown Augusta where we would be police escorted to meet the mayor, city administrator, and the director of housing authority. The mayor declared it World Changers week in Augusta and I know the students are excited to be a part of something so big!

Fill Us Up, and Send Us Out…

This week in Augusta the lovely, and inspiring Jay Moore will be bringing the message, encouraging our students to be Set Apart from the world, to be holy. So far worship has been stirring the hearts of our students from raising hands in praise to the King, to falling on their knees at the alter in awe of His wonder and beauty! It’s only the second day and God is already moving! It’s SO exciting to watch the veil being torn out from the eyes of the worshippers.
