What A Week!!!

We had an AWESOME week here in Casper! The week of work is over but the Spirit of God is still moving in the community as well as in the lives of all the students who served here. This week we raised $2,410 for missions, worked on 24 homes, had 52 local volunteers and had the help of ten area churches. Students have made friends on their crews that they are planning to stay in touch with. Homeowners have expressed thanks beyond measure for these volunteers who worked on their houses all week just to show the love of Christ.

Casper got a little bit of rain on the last day of work, but most of the crews were able to finish despite the weather. Any house that was started will be finished with the help of volunteers in the next few days.

We have had so much fun this week. Summer staff will be praying for everyone as they go about the rest of their summer. God bless!

Nearing the end

World Changers Week in Casper is coming to a close as the crews finish up their houses. Great progress has been made in this city this week. In the twelve years that World Changers has been in Casper we have worked on 396 projects. The city is so thankful for our service and we have had a chance to make an impact in the lives of city council members as well as the homeowners and neighbors.

We raised over $2,400 for missions this week through a missions offering and a staff auction. This money will go to support Kaleo Conferences, missionaries in Canada and missionaries in urban areas. That’s incredible! These students have been so generous in their service and giving!

Tomorrow is the last day of work. Pray for the crews for diligence and energy and the community to be receptive to the message the crews will be bringing.

O Come Let Us Adore Him

Day two of work here in Casper has come and gone with crews getting stuff done and making an impact in the lives of the people they are encountering.  Some crews are going full speed ahead and have already completed major projects. Homeowners have expressed their thanks to crews and staff, sometimes through tears of joy as they watch volunteer students and adults work on their homes. It is incredible how these students are so willing to serve and work hard for people they hardly know.

Tonight we had our Concert of Prayer during worship. In this time we recognized our need to confess, receive supplication and praise God for his many blessings. We actively participated in these areas as Randy and Christopher led the night through Scripture and song. The Holy Spirit really worked in that small gym of the junior high as both students and adults were brought to the cross with a heart of worship.

Tomorrow everyone will get a chance to take a break and go out into the city of Casper and the surrounding areas for some fun. Pray for diligence on the worksites and safety as they have fun on their day off.

First day of work in Wyoming

Crews here in Casper went out for their first day of work on their houses and the reports have already been phenomenal. We started the morning out with the Great Send Off as buses of crews drove out to their sites with enthusiasm and encouragement for how God was going to use them today. Students have been working hard and some crews are expecting to finish early to be able to help other crews with their tasks.

Our worship time has been great as Randy Beggs has been talking to us about being “set apart” in Christ. Our main passage for the week is Isaiah 6:1-8 where Isaiah was brought before the Lord and realized how small he was and how great our God truly is. Tonight we were convicted through verse 5 that we are ruined in comparison with God. Luckily, we don’t need to be perfect on our own. We are to be ruined and broken so that Christ can work in our lives and make us holy according to his plan.

World Changers Week in Casper

Today the World Changers in Casper got a special honor when the mayor of the city came and gave a proclamation that in Casper, Wyoming the week of June 20, 2009 has been declared “World Changers Week.” We have obviously had an amazing reception from the community and look forward to starting work tomorrow.

The participants met their crews today and went with them to church this morning. Local churches hosted them as they arrived at church and ate lunch. The crews then went on to meet their homeowners and the surrounding neighbors in preparation for tomorrow’s work.

Be praying for strength and joy as the crews start working on the houses tomorrow. We are excited about how God is going to work this week!

Here they come!

World Changers have arrived in Casper and are ready to rock! We have about 270 participants who have moved into CY Junior High School for the week and they are pumped about letting God use them in the community. There are middle schoolers all the way up to senior adults who are working this week. Welcome Celebration was exciting as the kids played games with the music leader Christopher and the A/V Tech TK.
