And so it ends….

Today was the last day of World Changers in Charleston, WV. It was a bitter sweet type of day. Everyone is really excited to head home and sleep in their own beds but they are also sad to be leaving the new friends they have made. We, the staff, would like to thank everyone for being involved in this week’s World Changers. Without everyones involvement this project would have not worked!! We had great participants and staff.

The participants worked on a total of 33 houses this week doing anything from roofing to siding to painting!!! The exact number of participant decisions is unknown but I know of at least two and have heard stories of how God is working in many of their lives. God is so good!! 45 people were talked to about Christ and 6 of them made the decisions. One of the ones that were saved was a homeowner!

Offering!!

The offering was taken up on monday night and the participants definitely meet their goal of $2,000. They raised $2,222, we told them that if they could raise $2,500 that we would turn ourselves into human ice cream sundaes. The offering is going to three different opportunities. The first one is Ministry in Canada; that is where a student will spend the summer in Canada evangelizing, helping with church planting and several other things. The second is Kaleo Conferences; the conferences are for anyone who feels called to the ministry whether it is pastoring or becoming a career missionary. At the conferences you will meet people that are pastors and missionaries and they will mentor you through the process. Last but not least is Urban Evangelsim; it is for five college students that have graduated from college and they will spend two summers in an urban city. They will work with a church helping it to grow in numbers and leaders and they will listen to the needs of the community.  All of these are  opportunities for your students to become missionaries right now in their own town!

P.S. The E-couragrams will no longer be taken. Sorry!

Holy God!

So I am going to combine some information from the past two days because I do not think the post I tried to upload yesterday worked. Yesterday was the Great Send Off. We all gathered in a circle to pray before all the crews departed for their first day at work. The crews all worked really hard maybe almost to hard because some of them could possibly be done tomorrow, if there is no rain! So please pray that it doesn’t rain tomorrow, thanks!!

Today was the second day out at the job site. God is really moving in amazing ways. Today one of the homeowner’s was saved!!! God is so good. Tonight we learned that no matter how much or how little you plan God is always going to have it His way and that is always the best way. We learned that in concert of prayer, which was amazing. I could definitely tell God was moving. I don’t know specifics from the group leaders but He was there and in charge!

David Brown the Project Coordinator

Depart to the site!!

The Great Send Off was this morning and it was incredible. 330 people gathered in a circle to pray before they left to go serve the community of Charleston for a week! I talked to one homeowner today and she said it is an incredible blessing to have them working at her house. We had three different media sources interview and film some of the crews. Tomorrow we hope to have several more cover the story of WC!

Worshiping our HOLY GOD!!!

The past two nights of worship have been incredible. The students have been listening to the words Christ through Norm, our worship speaker. It is so incredible to see the students worship and be moved by what He is teaching them. There are no words to describe how I felt as I watched them lift their hands or fall on their knees.  The students were able to worship in different environments this morning as they went to their host churches that are all pretty unique in their styles of worship because of the people that attend the church. An example of this would be the Biker church. That’s right a church full of bikers and the students that went said it was incredible and different.  Tomorrow is the Great Send Off; that is where we all get in a big circle and the Project Coordinator prays for the students as they head to their project for the first day of work. It’s going to be awesome!!!

Who is here in Charleston, WV!!

Today was a really good but some what chaotic day! All 16 churches arrived safely although some participants will not be able to get here until tomorrow. The churches are: FBC Bath from South Carolina , Carey Baptist from North Carolina, Clyde’s Chapel Baptist from North Carolina, Dublin Baptist from Ohio, FBC Lumberton from North Carolina and Georgia, FBC Russell from Kentucky, FBC Florence from Alabama, FBC Westerville from Ohio, Glen Echo Presbyterian from Ohio, Marshall Baptist from Illinois, Oakwood Baptist from Tennessee, South Aiken Baptist from South Carolina, Thompsonville Baptist from North Carolina, Waterville Baptist from Tennessee, West Side Baptist from South Carolina and Winn’s Baptist from Virginia!

All the groups seem really pumped to be here and can not wait to start working on their sites. Tomorrow they will go to their host church, eat lunch and visit their sites. Tomorrow they will actually get to find out who their crew members are which is always an exciting time. Saw Teeth, Hard Hats, Goofus Roofers and Miter Joints are just a few of the crew names. We have 33 crews total!!! Several crews are working on the same house because the project is so intense.
