What a Week to Remember

“I have never had a World Changers project where we completed more than the original amount of work given to the group.”   – Ken Kwast (Constructions Coordinator)

The students have worked hard serving the community and their Lord.

As we finish up our projects the students can now see the impact they have left in Cherokee.  Not only were roofs fixed, houses painted, and yards cleaned but relationships were built with the Cherokee people. We pray that these people will continue to seek Christ even after we are gone.

The students presented the Gospel to 24 people. 26 tracts were handed out around the community. 11 people requested prayer. And 1 person accepted Jesus!

Thank you for all your hard work! May God bless you as you continue to serve Him.

So many lives can be changed when we are able to reach them

This week the participants in Cherokee gave $2,494.79 to the missions offering. The offering will go to 3 different missions. All three of these missions are unique in their work to fulfill the Great Commission. Thank you so much to each student and their giving hearts.

Kaleo Conference- Specialized events for high school, college, and seminary students exploring of pursuing God’s call to a Christian related vocation. The goal of World Changers is to be able to fund four regional Kaleo conferences in 2009, which would equip students to successfully answer God’s call on their lives.

Canada- The cities are where most of the people in Canada live, but where thers are the least number of evangelical churches. One desired outcome for Student Missionaries in Canada is evangelizing people for  Christ and starting churches that will make an impact for generations.

Urban Evangelism- The fastest growing segments among teens today are found within the Hispanic and African American community. In order to fullfill the Great Commission, we as the Church need to see the need for urban evangelizm and respond. Therefore, the offering will full fund four US/C2 missionaries to go oto Chicago, Baltimore, San Antonio, and Detroit next year.

Here is a few more pictures to see the students hard at work.

Because the students will be leaving early Saturday morning E-couragrams will no longer be accepted. Thank you for all of the encouragement you have sent this week.

Thy Mercy My God is the Theme of My Song…

ALL POWERFUL UNTAMABLE AWESTRUCK WE FALL TO OUR KNEES AS WE HUMBLY PROCLAIM, YOU ARE AMAZING GOD!

After a day of hard work in the hot sun the students are beginning to see the fruits of their manual labor. Some crews have already finished the work at their sites and will be moving on to another home allowing us to reach more people. Many students have had opportunities to get to know their home owners; play with their children and even share Christ with them and explain why they came to serve. Often the Cherokee people are more reserved and reluctant to open up to new people, but as the students continue to build those relationships they are excited to have these students at their homes everyday.

After a day of service their is no better way to end the day than to praise and worship the one who created us. Tonight was the concert of prayer. The service was an intimate time between each participant and God. We showed Christ our adoration for Him. We confessed our sins and realized we must turn from them. We showed God their thanksgiving by thanking Him for everything he has done in our lives. The night was full of tears of sorrow and dances of joy as the students felt the power and might of God.

Now that you have heard about what all is going on in Cherokee, here are some pictures to show you just how hard they are working.

And They’re Off…

With horns blaring, a parade a vehicles left the Cherokee parking lot at 7 a.m. Jimmy the Project Coordinator led the students in a prayer commissioning them off to a week of service. 28 crews of more than 375 were sent off to worksites scattered throughout the Cherokee Indian Reservation.

Four days this week the students will work from 7 a.m until 4 p.m. They will only work a half day on Wednesday so they can rest and spend time with their church groups. Students will do manual labor including roofing, painting, light construction, and yard work. Everyday ends with a time of worship and church devotions.

Worship the God Who Sets Us Apart

This week Chris Wells is our speaker. He is challenging the students to think about the awesomeness of God’s power and how worthy of  worship and praise he is. He encourages us not to simply say we are Christians, but to live it out daily.

Also, Noah Crowe, the Associational Coordinator and local pastor instructed the students in evangelizing to the Cherokee people. He told them about the traditions and history of the Cherokee Indians.
