Concert Of Prayer

Concert of Prayer

Students Participated in the Concert of Prayer a night of quiet and worship. Students demonstrated confession by nailing their sins to the cross. Student leaders prayed over their students and the students prayed over each other in an act of Supplication. They prayed prayers of thanksgiving and wrote their praised to God on a white praise banner. The presence of God were felt and students were impacted by the night.

Work & Worship

Worship

This week students have been drawing close to God’s heart and learning what it means to live “Set Apart” lives. Students worshiped God on their worksites through their humility and servant attitudes; they also worshiped through songs of praise back on campus in the Rockdale Academy gym. Speaker Kevin Britton, challenged students to be awe struck by their God and to realize their unworthiness. Students read Isaiah 6:1-8 and were given the example of Isaiah’s humility in God’s presence.

Willy Gray

The outside of this brick house looks very similar to others on the block. The camera hung from the side of the building would appear to be for security. Inside this house though you meet Vietnam Veteran, Willy Gray. Paralyzed from a porch cave in, Willy keeps an eye on his house through lens of his security cameras.  Today there is much activity around this Cincinnati style two-story building, World Changers crew the “Cool Caulkers” busily remove old windows. The heat escaping through the old windows cause Mr. Gray’s electric bill to be very high. Resting in a connecting room, Mr. Gray can see the progress as the students caulk around newly replaced windows: “Thank God for them,” says Mr. Gray. This is the second time World Changers has come to help Mr. Gray. Two summers ago while completing work on a neighbor’s house World Changers students met Mr. Gray and asked if he needed any help around the house; the students were able to paint the exterior trim of the house. Now World Changers has returned to continue the work for a deserving man.

The Great Send Off!

The Great Send Off!

Horns blaring, Students cheering and engines revving, World Changers left Rockdale Academy to head to the 15 work sites in the greater Cincinnati area. Students donned their blue jeans and work belts, leaving for sites at 7AM this morning. Crews returned at 4PM this evening tired and dirty yet with the satisfaction of having made an impact on their worksite and in the community.

They’re Here!

Get Ready to Change the World!

7 Churches from five states arrived today with 180 students and adult leaders ready to Change the World! Students unloaded trailers and rolled out air mattresses. Students will spend their days restoring hope to communities by repairing lower income housing. In the evening students will explore what it means to be Set Apart. The World Changers Cincinnati Staff is excited to meet all the students offering their hard earned money, a week of summer break and their love for those who are in need. Students will be on 15 work sites scraping paint, building wheel chair ramps, and building relationships.

Opening Celebration

Opening Celebration was a blast! Many games were played. Including several rounds of Gorilla, Man, Gun! Students participated in an eBay version of The Price is Right. Did you know an unsharpened pencil would sell for 124 bucks? Weird. Singing, Cheering, and competing, the students exuberance could be felt.

We’re ready to get these projects on the road! Tomorrow participants will wake at 6AM to eat breakfast and head out to their worksites. All are excited to begin the work and impact the Cincinnati Community!
