This week the participants in Franklin gave $1,379.72 to the missions offering. The offering will go to 3 different missions. All three of these missions are unique in their work to fulfill the Great Commission. Thank you so much to each student and their giving hearts.
Kaleo Conference- Specialized events for high school, college, and seminary students exploring of pursuing God’s call to a Christian related vocation. The goal of World Changers is to be able to fund four regional Kaleo conferences in 2009, which would equip students to successfully answer God’s call on their lives.
Canada- The cities are where most of the people in Canada live, but where thers are the least number of evangelical churches. One desired outcome for Student Missionaries in Canada is evangelizing people for Christ and starting churches that will make an impact for generations.
Urban Evangelism- The fastest growing segments among teens today are found within the Hispanic and African American community. In order to fullfill the Great Commission, we as the Church need to see the need for urban evangelizm and respond. Therefore, the offering will full fund four US/C2 missionaries to go oto Chicago, Baltimore, San Antonio, and Detroit next year.
Because the students will be leaving early Saturday morning Ecouragrams will no longer be accepted. Thank you for all the encouragement you have sent this week.
Day 2 of work on their projects. The students return in desperate need for a shower and some rest. Not one person regrets coming to World Changers though. They each have smiles on their faces and nothing but great stories to tell. Some talk about their homeowner and how she is so appreciate of their work that she baked them a cake because she has nothing else to give. Others told stories of how sweet their elderly homeowner was and how he only wished he could be out there serving them. They are all beginning to see the fruits of their manual labor. Pray for each student as they continue to work hard for the Lord.
Before the sun rises the students wake up to eat breakfast at 6:15. They are all in their work clothes about to head out for their first day of work. (I bet they’ll sleep well tonight.) We all gather and circle up out side for prayer before they we’re sent off to serve. The students this week will be serving in the Franklin community by roofing and painting houses that need it. They will also be building handicap ramps and doing clean up work around the yards. The students had nothing but great things to say when they returned this afternoon.
”My host church was really nice, they brought us really good food,” said Ashlyn Coffey.
Erin Evans said, “I just had fun with the people.”
The relationships and the memories being made this week will last a life time.
This morning, participants met the members of their crews and wen to church together. The churches in the Baptist Association in Franklin will be feeding all of the 23 crews this week. After church, the crews visited their worksites, assessing the amount of work to be accomplished. While visiting the site they met the owner of the home the will be working on. They also had a chance to meet the neighbors and explain to them why they are here this week.
Tonight after dinner we loaded up and heading to Holly Springs Baptist Church where we will have worship every night. The speaker this week is Jeff King the Associational Coordinator. He explains to the students what it means to be Holy and how they can be Set Apart.
