Crews finished strong and completed all of the projects. Participants presented the gospel to 34 people this week and 12 of those accepted Christ. We have seen amazing things happen in Juana Diaz this summer. Our offering goal this week was $1,700.00. Participants gave $1,754.00 to the missions offering! It was a great way to end the week. We would like to thank all the groups who served in Juana Diaz this week. We couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you for your willingness to serve.
Wow! It was so hot today! We are so proud of these participants. They are working hard and enjoying every minute of it. Tonight was Puerto Rican night. The women of El Mesias cooked an authentic Puerto Rican meal for all of the participants. After dinner, we enjoyed worship lead by the El Mesias praise band. It’s amazing to see two languages and cultures come together to praise and serve the same God. Berto Maldanado challenged us to accept God’s invitation to serve him in other ways after World Changers is over. Tomorrow is our last day of work. Please pray for your students as they finish up their week and their project.
It didn’t rain today! All crews were working hard on their sites today and it looks as if most will be finished by tomorrow. But not to worry, our construction coordinator, Victor Morales, has a few other things for them to do. Students are enjoying their time getting to know their homeowners and their neighbors.
Andrea Mabry, a member of the Monkey Wrenches, has enjoyed evangelizing throughout the neighborhood. “It’s been awesome talking to the neighbors,” Mabry said. “You can tell there is a great need for Christ here.”
After dinner was the Concert of Prayer. God moved tonight in a mighty way. Students were encouraged to write their praises on a white praise banner and their confessions on a black confession banner. It was a great way to refuel for the rest of the week. Don’t forget tomorrow is the last day to send E-Couragrams.
Crews woke up around 6:00 this morning to eat a little breakfast and gather around the playground for the Great Send Off. Project Coordinator Linda Clayton gave everyone a few words of encouragement and Construction Coordinator Victor Morales lead us in prayer. After that the crews were off to work. A few sites did not have supplies today so they spent their spare time getting to know their homeowner and evangelizing to the neighbors. Unfortunately it started to rain. Usually when it rains in Puerto Rico it only last for a little while, but today was different. It rained forever…or at least that’s what it seemed like to the crews. Participants headed back to camp around 1:30 because there was too much rain. Hopefully tomorrow will be sunny and clear. Remember to send your students E-Couragrams!
It’s hot in Puerto Rico, but everyone arrived exited and ready for a great week. This week 174 participants will be working on 14 crews on 14 different houses throughout the Juana Diaz community. Churches from 7 different states and Puerto Rico will be sharing the love of Christ on the island. After dinner, students were able to meet their crews and have their first crew chat. Tomorrow they will begin working!
