Last day in Puerto Rico

This week has been very successful. Twelve crews worked on twelve homes in the Juana Diaz area. Students this week were excited about sharing their faith and it showed by their actions. They presented the Gospel 41 times and 11 of those accepted Christ. We are very proud of them for sharing their faith.

Thank you for your participation this week. Without you this would not be possible. Lives have been changed because of your service to Christ. It is our prayer that you will continue to live out your call to serve long after this project is finished.

Offering

Students have been working hard not only on the houses but in the barrio’s (neighborhoods) of Juana Diaz. Our participants have been eager to share Christ with their homeowners as well as those in the communities and as a result many locals have come to Christ. We collected the offering tonight and the students gave $821.68. Offering this year is going to Kaleo Conferences, Urban Evangelism, and Canada. It’s all about students giving to students.

Tomorrow is the last day for crews to be on their sites. Keep praying for the participants and those they come into contact with in the community. Don’t forget Thursday night is your last chance to send E-Couragrams!

Looking Good!

Work sites are looking good and are making progress. Several houses have their floors laid and are digging holes for concrete posts that hold the house up. The houses being worked on this week will not be completed. They will continued to be worked on throughout the summer by other World Changers crews.

God has been working at all of our work sites. Crews have been on site for 2 days and we have already had 13 presentations of the gospel and 6 of those have received Christ. Keep praying as participants finish out the week. Check back tomorrow for crew photos!

Great Send Off+Concert of Prayer=Great Day!

Participants were up early and treated to an authentic Puerto Rican breakfast provided and served by the mayor of Juana Diaz and his staff. After breakfast, crews gathered by the playground for the Great Send Off and listened to words of encouragement from project coordinator Linda Clayton. It was off to work from there! An overcast sky kept temperatures mild and made the workday better for crews.

Later in the evening participants attended the concert of prayer. God definitely showed up tonight. During many songs one could hear the Puerto Ricans singing in Spanish while the others sang in English. It’s amazing to see and hear two different languages and cultures come together to praise the same God.

Tomorrow crews will continue working on their homes. Continue praying for your students and the city of Juana Diaz. Check back later for more photos and updates!

Gettin ready to get hot and sweaty!

Participants arrived at Camp Caribe today eager to get to work. One hundred twenty participants will work in 12 crews and 12 different houses. We have 6 churches from 4 states and one territory represented this week.

Faith Baptist: Tennessee

El Mesias: Puerto Rico

Mountain View: North Carolina

FBC Celest: Texas

Cedar Heights: Arkansas

Belen: Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico projects are much different from those in the States. Participants will not only roof houses but most will build the house from the ground up! It’s going to be really hot on those roofs this week so please pray for your students. Pray that God will give them strength and wisdom on the sights. He’s going to do great things this week!

Hola de Puerto Rico!
