So long…

Today was a bitter sweet day because everyone finished their work sites but they also had to say goodbye to all their new friends.

The following are the project statistics:

# of presentations: 212

# of people saved: 10

# of people that re-committed their lives: 2

# of houses worked on: 35

Thank you everyone for all your hard work and coming to Neptune/Freehold, NJ to serve the community.

Over the hump!

After an amazing night out last night everyone worked extremely hard to finish some of their projects and others to stay on track. Last night there was a beach party thrown for us at Ocean Grove, NJ. It was a great time filled with food, music and games. The participants raised so much money for the mission offering that they got to turn all four summer staff into ice cream sundaes. It was a lot of fun and extremely disgusting.

Tonight in worship we had a guest speaker, Keith, who was a former NFL player. He challenged the students to find out what their name was and who they were living for. At the end he called for students to come up to the front and the confess and get alone with Christ. After that he called for the leaders to go up and pray with their students.

NOTE: All E-courgrams will no longer be recieved.

Whistle while you work!

Today was an amazing day in Neptune/Freehold, NJ. All the participants are work diligently and hard which means a lot of them are finishing quite quickly. Here is the most amazing news though: 103 year old lady and her 83 year old daughter both accepted Christ today at the work site! On top of that, at concert of prayer tonight several students made decisions. The decisions included being called into the ministry, getting saved, and rededicating their lives for Christ!

Continue to pray that God will continue to work in the lives of the homeowners and the participants. Also, please pray for safety of everyone as we work, play at the beach and go to New York City.

Send me!

In Isaiah 6 the Lord ask Isaiah who will go and Isaiah’s response was “Send me”. This is the attitude of all the participants as they grabbed their nail aprons, paint brushes, hammers and scrapers for the Great Send Off. All 31 crews gathered together in a big circle holding hands and yelled out “SEND ME” before they all darted to their vans. Everyone is bursting with excitement to start working and to make new friends!

It’s Sunday!

Students and their adult leaders from seven states and 14 churches arrived in Neptune/Freehold, N.J., yesterday. They spent the weekend training and preparing for the week ahead.

This morning, participants met the members of their crews and went to church together, visiting churches in the Baptist Convention of New York. Members of Colt’s Neck Community Church greeted the “Bone Crushers”, “Cinder Block Heads”, “The Dumpsters”, “Crow Bars”, “Glueless”, “Paint Chips” and “Dirty, Dusty and Down Right Determined” this morning and treated them to lunch after the worship service. Colt’s Neck Community Church and other churches in the community will be feeding crews lunch during the week.

After church, the crews visited their worksites, assessing the amount of work to be accomplished. The site visit included meeting the homeowner as well as meeting the neighbors. During the week, students will exhibit the love of Christ through their hands and feet.

The rest of the afternoon, students trained to be medics, breakmasters, devotion leaders and evangelism recorders.

“When we get a proper perspective of God, it will wreck our lives to know that a God so incomprehensibly large chooses and pursues ones so insignificant and broken,” said Keith Pipes, the World Changers speaker, at worship tonight. Pipes challenged students to allow God to work through them this week.

Welcome to New Jersey!!!

WELCOME!! New Jersey might be the greatest place to come as a participant. Neptune cares a great amount for the participants that come here to New Jersey to work in their community. When the participants arrive tomorrow morning they will have cots, blankets, sheets and pillows waiting for them in their rooms. On Wednesday  night they are throwing us a beach party and giving us shirts to wear! At the beach party students will dine on grilled burgers, barbeque and corn on the cob! It is going to be FANTASTIC!! We are staying at Neptune High School and the facility personnel are incredible. They have worked with so much already moving tables, opening doors and fixing the air conditioning. In Freehold, local restaurants will be feeding crews lunches all week, distributed by local emergency crews. World Changers participants will definitely be spoiled.

The project coordinator is Carol Pipes and her husband, Keith Pipes is speaking. They met while working for World Changers, isn’t that so cute! (Their picture is above.)

He attends Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Amy Hays, the missions communications specialist, is from Memphis, Tenn./Olive Branch, Miss., and attends the University of Memphis.

The construction coordinator is Tom Fanning, assisted by his wife, Judi.  They are extremely excited and have been involved with World Changers for 10 years now. Tom is in charge of all the crew chiefs, supervisors and helps with the selection of sites.

The associational coordinator is George Russ. He is the person in charge of finding host churches for the crews and making sure they get their lunches at the work sites.
