Wow… if only there were enough words to express how amazing the project has been. As of tonight there were four participant salvations, one homeowner salvation, and a salvation at the local hardware store!!! Now that the seeds have been planted the Daviess McLean Baptist Association will be here in the community to help harvest the crop.
All of the homes, eighteen total, were finished early despite the rainy weather that plagued the town earlier this week. All of the participants have worked extremely hard and deserve a huge thank you and hug when they arrive safely home!!! They have done a job well done and have been an amazing group to work with. Our lives have been truly blessed by this wonderful group of students, all of whom are on fire for the Lord!!! Over $2,000 was raised towards the missions offering this year, which exceeded our goal by $300!!!
We as a staff will miss each and every one of the participants and will continue to pray for them as they continue serving our Lord!!!!!

Its crazy to think that just a few short days ago some of the houses in the Owensboro area had roofs that were leaking, fences that were torn to shreds, and paint chipping off the house every time the wind blew. All eighteen houses are completely unrecognizable with the new roofs, fences, and paint jobs. God has been working in the lives of the community here, as well as the lives of the participants. This week alone there has been a homeowner salvation, as well as a few participant salvations!!! Despite the rain that has constantly rolled through all of the crews will be finished on time tomorrow, if not early. Everyone has pulled together to make sure that no one is left behind and that all of the work gets done. No job is too small!!! The legacy of World Changers Owensboro, Kentucky will be one that will never be forgotton by those whose homes were repaired. There is no doubt that countless lives were changed by the amazing God we serve!!!

Today was the first full day that the crews were able to work uninhibited by rain. While it was the hottest day thus far each of the crews were highly motivated and accomplished a great amount of work. Both a local newspaper and news crew came by two seperate sites today to cover the story of World Changers and why they took a week out of their summer to provide free labor. The community here is Owensboro is very excited to have World Changers here, one homeowner said that the students are “Absolutely wonderful!” She called them a blessing and gave them unending praise for the job they are doing. She has lost all but one of her children to cancer and is a cancer survivor herself. She said that God has been a huge part of her life and that He continues to bless her daily.
As if all the worksite excitement wasnt enough, tonight was the Concert of Prayer. Students made decisions tonight to live better lives for Christ and one student even chose to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior!!!! Tears and hugs could be seen from every angle of the room and Gods love could be felt in even the darkest corners. While the Concert of Prayer was only supposed to last for an hour, students were praying for one another for another hour afterwards.
Please continue to pray for the students and community here in Owensboro because God is doing amazing things in the lives of the people here and we know that this is just the beginning!!!
Visiting the Bone Crushers crew today was quite an experience!!! Upon arrival we were put to work helping to complete one side of the roof. The chimneys were taken down and almost an entire side was completed in the short time we were there. Suppose you could call us honorary chimney sweeps for the day!
So far this week there have been:
Gospel Presentations: 49 Questions about Christ: 4
People requesting prayer: 14 Decision Cards: 13
Tracts handed out: 34
Everyone is incredibly excite about the work God is doing here in Owensboro and cant wait to see what happens by the end of the week. After all it is only Tuesday!!!
The Great Send Off was a grand event with a county commissioner, a city manager, and the community development director coming to join us in praying for the participants and the community as a whole.
Despite the rain that rolled in today, the day was not a waste. The crews got quite a bit of work done and were able to evangelize while waiting for the sun to show through the clouds. The crews got to know each other a little better this afternoon during their free time.
As a fun activity to get to know some of the participants better we decided to have them help us create a new World Changers rhyme.
Here is what they came up with
“Gettin up at the crack of dawn, gettin our World Changers on. We work with hammers and with nails. Our wish is that you dont go to hell. We scrape, we paint, but quitters we aint. And we work without complaint. We’re on the roof and painting walls. Sleeping on floor, answering God’s call. We’re here for the week to share the gospel with all, please help us Jesus not to fall. Brushes, rollers, brooms, and rakes, workin all for God’s great sake. Roofin and paintin is what we know. God’s love is gonna show. Even though we cannot stay, may God bless them everyday.”

Today nine churches arrived at Burns Middle School in Owensboro, Kentucky form six different states to share the love of Christ with the community here in Owensboro. Beulah Baptist Church- Dadeville, Alabama Boone’s Creek Baptist Church- Lexington, Kentucky Cresset Baptist Church- Durham, North Carolina First Baptist Centerville- Centerville, Georgia Kingsly Lake Baptist Church- Starke, Florida Second Baptist Church- Russellville, Arkansas Skirum Baptist Church- Geraldine, Alabama Sonrise Baptist Church- Fort Ogethorpe, Georgia Mt. High Baptist Church- Warrior, Alabama Some of these churches drove incredibly long hours to this small town to help transform those living here. Students and adults are gearing up as we speak to replace roofs and/or repaint 18 houses this week. The participants are having a blast getting to know one another through basketball, card games, and silly string wars waged against the completely innocent summer staff. Worship this week is led by Troy Doster who some believe to be the next amazing evangelist in the area!!! Troy has an amazing gift from God to reach people on every level in their walk with Christ. We as a staff are excited to see how God moves throughout the week, and cant wait to report how lives in Owensboro are transformed!!!
What more could you ask for honestly??? Well here at World Changers Kentucky we got it all and then some! Today the crews got to meet one another for the first time, fellowshipping and making new friends, as well as their host churches for the week. The host churches are those who are taking the crews into their church family and feeding them lunch for the week. After lunch the crews had the opportunity to go and meet the homeowners and neighbors of the homes that they will be serving at throughout the week.
During the message tonight Troy, the speaker for the week, gave a challenge to the participants to ask Jesus Christ to be their personal Savior and Lord. God’s presence was illuminating throughout the room and shining directly down on the alter as it was overwhelmingly filled with people pouring their hearts out to their Savior. Tears of joy were flowing down multiple faces and were just as sweet as the smiles that were across the faces of everyone as they received reassuring hugs from one another about the call upon their lives from our Lord.
Its crazy to think that the week has just begun and God is already moving so powerfully through the hearts and lives of the participants. We are incredibly excited to see how God moves through the lives of the homeowners, community, participants, and staff this week. Keep reading to hear more stories of how God is moving here in Owensboro, and please continue to be in prayer for those lives that will be touched this week!!!!!
